Background on the Recipe
There’s a restaurant in my hometown of Santa Barbara, California called Zaytoon. It’s my favorite restaurant ever! It has a cute Mediterranean vibe with outdoor seating that makes you feel like you are living in a fairytale.
Last year, I went to the restaurant for my birthday and we ordered one of the appetizers called the yogurt dip.
It was the most delicious thing I've ever eaten. Creamy from the yogurt, crunchy with the pomegranate, with a slight salty note from the salt on top. I have been wanting to recreate it for months now.
Finally, I decided to put my own spin on it by making my high-protein version with one of my favorite ingredients: Cottage cheese!!
If you think you don’t like cottage cheese, you have to try whipping it!
When You Whip Cottage Cheese, You Get…
Creaminess! It creates a creamier & smoother texture, removing all of the chunky curds!

Perfect as a dip! This homemade whipped cottage cheese is indulgent, creamy, and super versatile to replace any sour cream, yogurt, or labneh.
Great for blending with other flavors: it has a texture and taste that is perfect for adding other flavors!
Which Cottage Cheese Do I Prefer?
Good culture cottage cheese! I love the classic 4% because it is made with nothing but milk, cream, sea salt & live/active cultures. All of their products are also USDA-certified organic with 14 grams of protein in 1 serving!
