Quick and Easy Mango Salsa Recipe

Mango was a staple fruit we ate when we lived in Florida. When I eat a mango, I think of a warm summer afternoon, sitting by the pool, listening to the seagulls above me. I think of myself in a bathing suit, with chilled mango by my side. It truly brings me back to feeling ease and peace.

Many of our friends had mango trees and they knew how much I loved fresh mangos so they would drop off bags and bags of mangos to our door. I was always so excited.

This mango salsa was a recipe I made on repeat. It’s fresh, flavorful and delicious. Everyone I made it for always raved about it. It was the hit of the party. It’s perfect to enjoy by the pool on a hot summer day. You will love it!

Why mangos?

Mango season is a special time, and finding ripe, juicy mangos at the grocery store always excites me. Their sweet, tropical flavor is unparalleled, and they add a burst of sunshine to any dish. Whether you're making a fruit salsa, blending them into smoothies, or simply enjoying them on their own, ripe mangos elevate any meal.

The versatility of mango salsa

One of the reasons I love this mango salsa recipe is its versatility. It's not just a topping for fish tacos (though it's fantastic on them!). You can also serve it over grilled chicken, as a side dish with tortilla chips, or even as a topping for salads. The combination of sweet mangos, crunchy bell peppers, and spicy jalapeños creates a flavor explosion that pairs well with so many dishes.

The importance of fresh ingredients

Freshness is key when making homemade salsa, and this mango salsa is no exception. Using ripe mangos, crisp bell peppers, and flavorful cilantro ensures the best flavor. I always make sure to taste the ingredients before mixing them together to ensure they're at their peak.

Making it your own

While this recipe is delicious as written, feel free to customize it to suit your taste preferences. If you like it extra spicy, leave the jalapeño seeds in for a fiery kick. Prefer a milder salsa? Omit the jalapeño altogether or use less of it. You can also add additional ingredients like diced avocado or black beans for extra texture and flavor.

Storing leftover mango salsa

If you happen to have any leftover mango salsa (which is rare in my house!), store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will keep for a few days, although it's best enjoyed fresh. If you're planning to make it ahead of time, I recommend waiting to add the avocado until just before serving to prevent it from browning.

Bringing the taste of summer to any dish

Whether you're hosting a summer barbecue, enjoying a picnic in the park, or simply craving a taste of sunshine, this mango salsa is sure to brighten your day. Its vibrant colors and refreshing flavors make it the perfect accompaniment to all your favorite summer dishes.
