Why I Like This Recipe

Back before the pandemic, I used to host virtual cooking classes, and this was one of the recipes we made together. We paired it with a simple cabbage salad, and it was delicious! This Green Goddess dip is still one of my favorite dressings to make. It is creamy and packed with so many amazing herbs and healthy fats, which is great for glowing skin! I also love how versatile it is; not only is it a great way to enjoy salads, but it is thick enough to be used as a veggie dip, too.

Ingredients & Substitutions for Avocado Green Goddess Dressing

  • Fresh basil: Use fresh for the best results.

  • Ripe avocado: This is a great way to use your overripe avocado.

  • 1/2 bunch of cilantro: If you don’t like the taste of cilantro, you can just swap for more parsley.

  • 1/2 bunch of parsley: Use fresh.

  • 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves: Use fresh.

  • 1/3 cup hemp seeds: Swap the hemp seeds for cashews, almonds, or sunflower seeds.

  • 1/4 cup nutritional yeast: This is a yeast that gives non-dairy items a “cheesy” flavor. It is packed with b vitamins and really great source of minerals. Alternatively, you can swap for parmesan cheese.

  • Juice of 1 lemon: Use lime if you don’t have lemon.

  • 1/4 cup olive oil: Olive oil helps give it a wonderful texture and flavor. Swap for avocado oil if needed.

  • 3 cloves garlic: Fresh garlic cloves are preferred, but feel free to use minced garlic or garlic powder if you don’t have fresh.

  • 1 shallot: No need to chop or dice. You can just throw the whole shallot in.

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt: Use more or less depending on your taste preference.

  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper: Use more or less depending on your taste preference.

  • 1/2 cup - 2/3 cup filtered water: This is just to thin out the dressing to achieve your desired consistency.
